A Tradition of Academic Excellence

Garden Homes Ev. Lutheran Church and School sit on the edge of Garden Homes Historic District, our nation's first municipally sponsored, community owned housing project, now a part of the City of Milwaukee. The church and school came into existence on March 13, 1927, with the opening of its new facility in the fall of 2004.

Our student body of 235 children (K3 - 8) is nurtured by a staff of loving and qualified staff of 11 teachers and 2 administrators who have a total of over 110 years of teaching experience. Classroom size currently averages between 20 and 25 children.

Since the fall of 2004, our students’ achievement test scores have risen by over 8%. We have adopted a model of high expectations that does not allow for excuses. Special education and recovery programs for struggling students are meeting with success. We have also experienced a 13.5% growth in factors crucial to the effective use of technology for students’ learning as measured by the North Central Regional Technology in Education Consortium.

In the past 25 years, more than 95% of our eighth grade graduates have gone on to graduate from high school!
