School Music Program Update

The music program at GHLS continues to grow.  This year Mr. Reinhardt has expanded his instruction from music theory classes to include an elective choir and instrument lessons designed for grades 5-8.  A shipment of guitars was just delivered, and students are looking forward to getting started.

Grade 8 Classroom Spotlight – Mr. Brown

In 8th Grade we had our first field trip of the year heading to Schlitz Nature Center. We learned about Ecology, the Animal Food Chain, and got to study a little bit of God's Creation. We planned what we needed for a trip to Mars, met a friendly snake, went on a hike in the woods, and ended with skipping rocks at the beach. To support the upcoming blood drive, we made some posters to thank those who are donating. We have a great class of 15 this year and have had some awesome opportunities to serve both God and our school by being student ambassadors, greeting at chapel on Friday's, and helping Mr. Bauer set up for events like the Back to School BBQ in August!

Kingdom Prep Visits the 7th & 8th Grade Boys

On October 2nd, Mr. Shelton Daniels, the Director of Recruiting visited the 7th & 8th grade boys to share information about our partner, all-boys, high school Kingdom Prep Lutheran.  Two GHLS alumni were also able to speak about their experiences of being a part of the Kingdom Prep “brotherhood.”  More information, including application requirements can be found at www.kplhs.org.

K3 Classroom Spotlight - Ms. McAfee

HAPPY FALL!! The K3 classroom engaged in an exciting lesson about various types of apples, such as Gala, Granny Smith, and Golden Delicious. We participated in a delightful tasting of each apple with caramel and peanut butter. After the tasting, we created a graph to see which apples and toppings we liked the best. These hands-on experiences sparked excitement for healthy eating choices. After our tasting activity, we took an exciting trip to Apple Holler with K4 and K5. We learned about the different varieties of apples and participated in a fun apple-picking experience. What a great time we had learning about apples.
