Grade 6 Classroom Spotlight – Canoeing 101
The 6th Grade class went on their first adventure of the year. The class enjoyed a morning of exploration and teamwork on Mystery Pond at Schlitz Nature Center. They were taught paddling techniques, and then they were able to try them out on the water. When asked what they learned, one of the 6th graders replied, "It's important to choose wisely who you're going to ride in your canoe with." The 6th graders showed their team mentality by helping pull canoes out of the water and putting away the life vests, paddles, and chairs. Way to represent, 6th grade!
Volleyball Victors
The GHLS volleyball teams are off to a perfect start. The A-Team girls have a record of 4-0 and the B-Team girls are at 5-0. The B-Team conference tournament will be held at St. Marcus (Palmer St. Campus) on Saturday, October 12, and the A-Team Conference Tournament will be at Garden Homes Lutheran on October 15th and 17th. Let’s go Vikings!
WISCO Visits the 8th Grade Class
On September 23rd, Mr. Brad Wetzel, the Director of Admissions, at our partner school Wisconsin Lutheran High School visited with our 8th grade class to talk about the next steps in their educational career. Wisconsin Lutheran is a high performing option where students can also continue to grow in their faith life. Currently 25 Garden Homes alumni are enrolled at WISCO and participating in academic clubs, athletics, and the fine arts.
Blood Drive – October 11
Garden Homes is again partnering with Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin on a blood donation drive. Versiti nurses educate our students on the lifesaving impact that blood donations have on thousands of people each year. Women’s Bible Study
The women of Garden Homes Lutheran Church invite you to a weekly bible study focused on the power of God’s word in our lives. The group meets every Wednesday, September 25th through October 16th at 5:00PM in the first-floor conference room. Come and let the light of God’s Word fill you up!
